The lowest-profile cam walker on the market — engineered to closely match the heel height of most everyday shoes. The DARCO FX Pro eliminates the gait imbalance, hip strain, and knee strain caused by traditional bulky cam walkers. At under 2 lbs, it delivers maximum ankle and lower leg immobilization without the weight. The ventilated padded liner promotes air circulation, anatomically contoured spatula stirrups comfortably immobilize the ankle, and the pressure-moldable shock-absorbing insole conforms to the foot for a customized fit. Available in High Boot and Low Boot styles across a full size range. Color: Classic Black.
What makes the FX Pro lower profile than other cam walkers?
Most cam walkers have a thick rocker sole that raises the injured foot significantly higher off the ground than the opposite shoe, creating a leg length discrepancy that forces the hip and knee of the uninjured leg to compensate with every step. The DARCO FX Pro is specifically engineered with a sole height that closely matches the heel height of most standard everyday shoes, minimizing this discrepancy and allowing a more natural, balanced gait. This reduces the secondary hip, knee, and lower back strain that many patients experience with traditional cam walkers during extended wear.
What is the difference between the High Boot and Low Boot?
The High Boot extends further up the lower leg, providing greater immobilization of the ankle and distal tibia — appropriate for more significant ankle fractures, post-surgical stabilization, or conditions requiring higher-level immobilization. The Low Boot has a shorter profile that ends below the mid-calf, offering ankle immobilization with a less restrictive feel — suitable for ankle sprains, stress fractures, and conditions where full lower leg immobilization is not required. Your physician or orthotist will specify which style is appropriate for your diagnosis.
How do I select the correct size?
Select your size based on your shoe size using the size guide above. The boot is designed to accommodate the foot with some additional volume for socks and minor swelling. If you are between sizes, sizing up is generally recommended for comfort. Note that X-Small and Medium are currently available in Low Boot only — confirm the style and size combination you need before ordering. Always follow your physician’s or orthotist’s sizing guidance when the boot is prescribed as part of a treatment protocol.
How do I put on the boot correctly?
Loosen all straps fully before putting the boot on. Seat the heel firmly at the back of the boot — the heel should be fully down and not floating. Fasten the straps from the bottom up, securing each one snugly without excessive tightness. The spatula stirrups should sit comfortably against the sides of the ankle. Check that you can wiggle your toes and that there is no numbness or tingling — if either occurs, loosen the straps. Wear a sock inside the boot for comfort and hygiene, and inspect the skin daily for pressure points or irritation.
