Pressure Prevention

1. Pressure-Relieving Mattresses: Specialized mattresses, such as foam mattresses, air mattresses, or alternating pressure mattresses, help distribute body weight more evenly and reduce pressure on specific areas.

2. Pressure-Relieving Cushions: These cushions can be used in wheelchairs, chairs, or even car seats to provide additional support and reduce pressure on vulnerable areas.

3. Heel and Elbow Protectors: Soft, padded protectors are designed to cushion and protect the heels and elbows, minimizing the risk of pressure ulcers in these areas.

4. Positioning Aids: Devices such as pillows and wedges are used to help maintain proper body alignment, reduce pressure points, and prevent friction.

5. Specialized Footwear: Pressure prevention footwear, including pressure-relieving socks and shoes, can be used to protect the feet and reduce pressure on the soles.

6. Seat Cushions and Pads: Similar to pressure-relieving cushions, these are designed for individuals who spend extended periods sitting and need additional support to prevent pressure ulcers.

7. Skin Care Products: Specialized creams and ointments may be used to keep the skin moisturized and reduce the risk of skin breakdown.

It's important for healthcare professionals to assess the risk of pressure ulcers in patients and implement appropriate preventive measures based on individual needs and conditions. Regular repositioning, maintaining good hygiene, and proper nutrition are also essential components of pressure ulcer prevention.
